When it comes so to direct sales parties, guests will be more likely to remember the fun event if they walk away with a prize.

Just make sure it’s a product prize from your company. No point in giving away chocolates, lip balm or other items that don’t even represent your own company product line!

Know your hostess and the crowd. If you decide that you’re in front of a group of guests who may be open to some games, then play some.

People are by nature a bit competitive, and a game is a great way to get the party started. I was at a party this past weekend and the hostess did a Scentsy Bingo which brought out the competitiveness of everybody (but in a great way).

If you get the feeling that nobody wants to do games, instead have a simple drawing. Invite each guest to enter the drawing. The upside to this method is that a drawing is a great way to generate leads. Instead of having people simply put their name on a piece of paper, they can actually fill out a pre-set postcard.

Consider asking for the following information:
- Name
- Address
- Phone number
- Email
- If they are interested in becoming a consultant
- If they are interested in hosting a party (and earning free gifts)

Make sure you actually use the information you’ve collected to send out information about promotions and new products.

Whether you choose to host a drawing or ask your attendees to play a game, giving away prizes is a great way to introduce new people to your products and gain future customers.

I would love to say that I have an update on plug-ins and can tell you when they are coming in.... but I cant.
My fingers are crossed and everyday I wait in anticipation for the notice to come out that we can start placing orders. Only problem that I see with that is there will be a baclog of orders for plug-ins.
OH well. lots of other Scentsy choices to pick!!.

I am doing a show in Chestermere, AB this weekend at the Chestermere Spring Fling which is shaping up to be a great day!

Hope you are all having a great Easter long weekend. My boys were both super excited to have an easter egg hunt this morning and have been eating chocolate all day.

I am baking a ham and basting it for the very first time today. Thank heavens that the butcher at the grocery store knows how to do all this and can help me~

I am heading to the Edmonton Mind, Body, Soul Expo from April 9-11 at the Shaw Conference Centre to do a Scentsy table. So if you are around come by and say hello.

I have such a great team. Two of my team members have moved up to the next level and if I am not careful then they will surpass me!! I am so excited for them!!

I did a show on the weekend in Calgary and it was definately quality over quantity but way better then staying at home and not meeting anybody and being able to introduce Scentsy to people.

I even have my kids helping me pack my sample bags to hand out at the shows, which makes them feel like they are part of Scentsy. I am not 100% sure they know what Scentsy is, but they have fun asking me about it.

I am sick with a cold right now and just came downstairs to see that I have 3 Scentsy boxes that arrived while I was upstairs. YAHOOOOO it always seems like Christmas when Scentsy arrives.

I am off to open them up and see what has arrived.

Weekend

I did my first local fair yesterday called the Chestermere Mind, Body, Spirit Expo. What a great show with so many different holistic tables for people to experience. I was beside a wonderful lady who had a table full of Himilayan Crystals and on the other side of me was the local Vet who had wholesome, all natural products for pets. It was an exhausting day as I was by myself at my Scentsy table but it was really fun to introduce Scentsy to so many people who hadnt heard of it.

I started as a Scentsy Consultant at the end of November 2009 and by the time I got my starter kit we were well into the Christmas season and didnt have the time to start right away. In January 2010 I really started to focus on Scentsy.

It has been fun and challenging so far. Fun in that its great to talk with people from all across Canada and share Scentsy. Challenging in that I already have a consultant who is going to become inactive at the end of March 2010. She was a friend of mine who signed up right away. A few weeks ago she was going to have a launch party and wanted to talk about it with me and was super excited. I have since called and emailed and sent her notes on FB, but havent heard back from her. I am frustrated as I know that she could do super well and there are no consultants anywhere near her. According to the stats this is quite normal, and not to be taken personally or worried about.

BUT the rest of my team rocks!!! I know that shortly I will be able to announce that some of my team has been able to move up a level!!

At the Scentsy World Tour this past weekend in Calgary, Alberta I met 3 Canadian consultants who are already at the Director level and that took only 6 months!! So it is totally dooable.

I continue to recruit and have some prospects that will be joining in the next few weeks which I am excited about.

Fire Safety

I found some interesting stats on house fires and wanted to share it with you. The most common causes of fires include leaving candles unattended, falling asleep while a candle is lit and candles knocked over by kids, or pets.

The open flame of a candle can reach a temperature of 1400 C., and there are no regulations governing candles.

Candle fires are more likely to start in the bedroom and DONT place candles in windows where they could ignite the curtains or blinds. Place lit candles in a very safe spot where kids or pets cannot knock them over. Never leave candles unattended and dont ever use them on your Christmas tree. Extinguish candles when they get witin 5 centimeters of the holder.

Overall the number of house fires in Canada has been declining since 1980, however fires caused by candles has been increasing since 1990. Candles have grown in popularity over the years thereby increasing the liklihood of causing fires.

Christmas Day was the peak time in the year for house fires caused by candles between 1991-2001.

Scentsy wickless candles just might prevent fires. With having no flame, no soot or wick and being an electrical warmer you could leave it unattended. The wattage of the light bulb for the large size warmer is only 25 watts.

Scentsy really is a safe alternative to candles.

I had a lady get in touch with me from Ontario and was very excited to hear about Scentsy as she had just been through a kitchen fire which was caused by an unattended candle. She really wanted the fragrance that the candle offered but after the fire she will never have an open flame in her house again.

Scentsy was her solution!!

Scentsy Man

I have been married for 8 years to a guy who has been supportive throughout all of my many different activities, hobbies and adventures! I really cannot complain about him except for……. Well he has always complained about me burning scented candles, having plug-ins that stay on all the time, or trying different room sprays and fabric sprays in order to have a home that smells great.

No matter what I tried I could never win which was very very frustrating as you can imagine.

He has always told me that he doesn’t want this stuff in the house as the candles are a fire hazard and the other stuff gives off harmful chemicals. So I kept trying different products, as I really wanted a home that when you walked in would smell great and make everybody feel welcomed.

He never liked the “girly” smells that I brought home and tried and I was constantly on the hunt for a scent that would he would consider “manly” and could use when he retreated into his “cave”.

FINALLY along came Scentsy and saved me!! It offered a safe alternative to what I was doing, and all the different scents to choose from – YAHOO. I must admit that when I signed up the thought didn’t cross my mind about my husband and how he would appreciate this. Once the starter kit came and then I told him I had joined (oops) he started going through the scents and totally loved it!!

He loved the safety of it and all the different scents and totally started picking out his own scents. Can you imagine how happy I was - I did a small yahoooooo that day.

He loves the Scentsy Man scents and has his own warmer with his own scents in his “cave” and I have never heard a complaint about home fragrance since!

So if you have a guy in your life or if you are a guy who thinks that Scentsy isn’t for him because it is all about girly scents – you are wrong. Scentsy offers lots of fragrances that would be great for a quick cave retreat :}

Banff in February

My family and I live in Calgary, Alberta and having a busy schedule between family and work commitments my husband and I rarely take the time to go on a trip without our kids. I had a basket party in Banff, Alberta and thought that since I had to drive there to pick it up (one hour away) my husband and I should make a weekend out of it.
So now the planning starts…..book somebody well in advance to watch the kids, and find a kennel for the dog. Once that was all booked it was off to Banff for two whole nights with being with only adults and not being pulled in five million directions!! Sleeping in on Saturday and Sunday was a huge luxury and we took full advantage of it. Not to say that we didn’t miss our two young boys, and we called a few times a day to make sure that they were coping well without us. When we called we could tell that they were having a great time and I think they barely noticed that we weren’t there. :}
If you have never been to Banff in February you would imagine that it would be bitterly cold, where your nose hairs freeze when you walk outside. When we arrived it was like spring!! It was gorgeous out. The mountains are huge, and the contrast between the white snow and the black of the mountains reminded me of paintings from Ansel Adams. The air was crisp and refreshing and with that pine smell wafting through the air it reminded me of CLEAN BREEZE and SPRUCE & CITRUS. When we walked into our hotel this huge stone fireplace was burning which was like the COZY FIRESIDE Scentsy.
I can understand where Scentsy draws on their scents as they are literally all around us.

The Medicine Hat trade show was a huge success!!
Everybody loved the product and the different scents that they could choose from.

I learned so much from doing this trade show on how to set up the table, and what worked and what didnt work.

We still have 4 more big shows to do this year and I can only anticipate that each show will get better and better.

February is 10% off as the new spring/summer catalogue and scents come out in March 2010.

Trade Show on January 23 - 24, 2010

Hi
So wanted to give a quick update as to what I am doing besides working full time and being a mom to 2 young active boys and a wife. My friend and I are getting ready for a Scentsy Trade Show in Medicine Hat in 2 weeks!! I think we are ready to go.... well not sure actually.....we are almost ready to go and will have everything organized by the end of this weekend.

Quite exciting as I get little samples ready at home to give out at the trade show and start thinking on how to set up the booth.

If anybody is around in the Hat that weekend stop by and say hi.
